On a Sunday afternoon...

I love Sunday's. We changed from church at 11 to early church at 9. Getting out the door on time can be a trick, but it's SOOO worth it to come home and have the rest of the day for napping and relaxing for a few hours. This week's nap was 2 hours long for me.
2 HOURS!!!
It was the worst feeling waking up. I work up in a semi-panic and thought it was the next day and Carter was late for school. Plus I was in total dreamland and drooling and everything. The nap was awesome. The waking up and realizing I had slept so long...not so great.
Anyway, after I gathered my wits and realized it was still Sunday and then sat on the couch and stared out into space for like 15 minutes I noticed it was so nice and quiet. And I loved it! Here's what was going on:

I can't get over how big Carter looks in that last picture. Did you know he's about to lose his first tooth? What the heck?!? He says it hurts, though and won't let me yank it out yet. He's not one for pain so I'm pretty sure this one's going to hanging on by a thread before he finally does it. (And does the thought of losing teeth make anyone else shudder? I have these nasty nightmares where my teeth all turn to rubber and fall out. I know I'm a bit of a loon.)

In other news, I got to work in my garden last week (AHH! The return of the garden posts!) Don't worry, I won't be posting all about my garden for a while but I had to sneak this in here so you don't become too accustomed to NOT hearing about it. It was so nice being back out there and I was melancholy for my beautiful green garden. Right now it's just a mess of weeds, old leaves and bugs. And some peas that froze.
But the soil is so moist! Did you know that it rained in California in December?
I mean, who DIDN'T know that it rained like crazy? As you may have noticed, California doesn't like to go for very long without being noticed. It's like Jessica Simpson or some falling star that constantly has to do something new to remind everyone it's here. Once California notices it's not the center of the universe anymore it decides to have some sort of natural disaster or political debate/scandal that puts it back in the limelight. It's so full of itself, that California.
In other, other news, I'm super busy lately and didn't even post ONCE about CHRISTMAS! What is up with that? Well I'll tell you how that went. It was lovely and we had a great day. It was just our little family and it was so nice and relaxing. My favorite present? 2 new pairs of shoes. I got these in black and some running shoes. (p.s. I have a new obsession with pumps. I love them. I'm still trying not walk like Bambi in them, but I love them. They make me feel like a WOMAN) Next up on my list of ones I want are these) in red. They aren't online but they have them at the store here and they are preeetty and they totally match my red purse :) (And just in case my mom's wearing her reading glasses I'd like to take this opportunity throw in here that the 9 1/2 fits me like a glove and I do take checks)
Well, folks, that's about it for now. Sorry I've been MIA, I hope to get back on the blogging ball before too long. I need to know one thing, though. What were your kids FAVORITE Christmas gifts??
