You go, girl.

Love this. Sometimes it feels like no one has a backbone anymore and won't stand up against the "majority". I applaude you, Carrie Prejean and wish I could give you a hug.

Sunday pics

Easter Sunday was a bad day for pictures.
Church starts at 9 which is really pushin' it for me and I was singing in sacrament so I had to be 20 minutes early (which is really pushin' it for me).
But I had stalked these adorable church outfits at Target for weeks, I kid you not, waiting for them to go on sale. I went to Target (not to look for them, in particular) the day before Easter and there was a "price cut" sign where they were hanging. Ooohhhhh, goodie! So I casually walked over to where they were ( i wanted to sprint, elbowing other moms out of my way) and found that they were 1/2 off. $12.98 to be exact.
WAHOO!
PLUS, they had the exact sizes I needed.
What are the chances? Seriously!
I couldn't stop smiling as I thought about coming home and showing Spence and thinking about how adorable my kids would look the next day.
I must have looked like such an idiot.
I tried to hide my big ol' grin at first and then decided there wasn't any point and just smiled away. (and then I was really obnoxious and bragged to like 4 people, including the cashier, about the awesome deal i got)
Anyway, I was so excited to take pics of the boys in their outfits and as you alreay know that didn't work out, and after church was even worse than before (nap time- you understand).
So today I had 15 minutes until church.
I pinned up a sheet.
They ripped it down. twice.
I bribed them with marshmallows. Nolan doesn't understand bribes yet and was unhappy that he didn't get the marshmallow right then so he was in tears. (see below)
But I got a couple good ones and I'm so excited because I didn't even have to pay JCPenny to take pictures of my kids.
And they got to scarf marshmallows. Right before church. Maybe I'll re-think that one next time.

(After he dried up the tears. Isn't it amazing how fast they look normal again? I get spots all over my face that don't go away for like an hour.)

What a girl's gotta do

Lately I have forgotten some seriously important stuff in my post-workout gym bag.
The first time I forgot deoderant....not the worst but still felt nasty until I got home to put some on. And BTW I was stinky by the time I got home (give me a break, it was warm and we went to the park that day) so THANK GOODNESS for deoderant (and while we are on the subject can someone recommend a good one??)
The second time I forgot....My towel.
I reached out from the shower and felt around in my bag.
You have to be KIDDING ME! What the crud was I going to do?
Well, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
I whipped out my really wet, nasty workout hand towel and used that (side note- I had sweated my guts out in a spinning class). Smeared sweat back onto my clean body. It was a nasty, nasty feeling.
The LAST TIME I forgot....my bra. (not that I really need one anyhow. We'll get to that in a moment)
Now what do I do? I brought a Shade shirt (not the loosest of clothing). I have to go to get groceries at Walmart on the way home. Well, girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!
I went bra-less to Walmart. Isn't it funny how when you are uncomfortable about something with yourself you notice it in others? I couldn't stop looking at other women to see if they were wearing one or not. (and I'm glad I haven't noticed before. I don't think anyone wears one anymore!) But it was the first time I was glad I didn't have more going on because then it may have been more noticeable.
It was also a nasty feeling. Like when you have that dream when you are naked at school or something (or maybe that's just a dream I have...)
So what's the moral of the story?? Well first, pack your gym bag and check off the list. 2nd, learn to make due with what you have at your disposal. And 3rd, don't check to see if other women are wearing a bra because they probably aren't. Try to remain in your own happy little la-la land.

Easter Week

We had a great Easter week (seriously, not just one day, huh??). We hunted eggs like 8 times. Okay, maybe not that many but it was a lot. The first one we had was with our ward play group. Nolan was ecstatic once he realized there was candy in the eggs. But he got really mad yesterday when he was trying to break open one of the hard-boiled ones. (luckily he never succeeded) Carter was one of the oldest at the playgroup hunt and therefore swept the place clean, pushed the other kids down and tore the eggs from their grubby little hands. We are so proud of him. (not seriously. but it looks like it from how many eggs he has, huh?)

We dyed our hands last night and managed to get some on the eggs.
(sweet Spidey tatoo, huh?)

The E.B. came whilst we were at church and brought us insuline resistence in a basket, hid some eggs, and a got us a swing set (pictured in background). The kids were entertained for at LEAST 5 minutes with it. Then they were entertained another 5 or so by gigantic bubbles.
And finally, the inevitable crash resulting from too much sugar, excitement and walking around on short little legs lookin for eggs. (rhyme)

I loved every minute of it.

It was wonderful. :)

HOW WAS YOUR EASTER WEEKEND??

I'm going HOOOOOOOooooooooooooommmmmmeee....

I'm just too far
From where you are
I wanna go home.

Let me go HOOOOOooooooooooooommmmeee.....

Okay, enough of the sappy love song.
I really am going home. Home to Texas. (oh hail, the mighty state! (spencer still makes fun of me for knowing that song) Where the bugs are bigger, the air is wetter, the ocean is browner, the land is flatter, the hair is curlier, the armpits are damper, the lizards are everywhere, the grass is thicker, the people are friendlier....gotta love it.
SOOOO, if you would like to book me for a session, email me at hayburk1@yahoo.com. I can email you a price and we can figure out a time. Because...
I'm coming HOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmeeee.............

I love sassy old people. (when they are dressed...and maybe not so much when they drive)

I was at the gym yesterday.
I was getting in the shower (p.s. I am LOVING showering at the gym. I walk out of there feeling like a million bucks and not like a nasty, stinky, sweaty mom. If you haven't done it, try it!) and there was an old lady getting dressed by me.
Unlike a lot of the other old women there (and there are A LOT) she was actually being modest about getting dressed (seriously, I thought old people would be MORE modest. Most of them have NO problem-o walking around completely buck...which, by the way, is totally foul...okay, back to the story...) and she started talking to me and we got talking about kids. She told me she had 2 sets of twins two years apart.
OH MY GOSH, I said.
HOW DID YOU ACCOMPLISH THAT???

"The same way you got one, Honey."
Oh.

My eyes are about to fall out of my head.

I can't wait to slip in my seriously comfortable bed and drift into delicious dreamness. But I'm been promising wedding pics and I know how uphappy everyone (anyone??) gets when I don't keep my promises. SO, click on the beautiful pic to the right for my official excuse for my horrible blogging and let me know what you think.

I have an excuse note

My excuse for my lack of blog posts lately is that I have been spending all my computer time organizing, sorting, and editing photos from this, my first wedding which I shot last Friday. I have more pics to come but you'll just have to wait. I hope you are as excited to see them as I am to show them off. The hardest part of this sorting has been weeding out the good pictures from the awesome ones. I don't think this couple took any bad shots. They were amazing to work with. Check my photography blog for more pics in a few days. Here's just a sample for ya.

Sad

I had to empty my dishwasher
And do laundry and fold it
And take care of my children
All my myself today.

Come back, Mom.
We miss you.
