4 Months

I can't get over that Nolan is already four months old. It makes me so sad because it's going so fast- way faster than it did with Carter. I mean, the kid is already getting a TOOTH! Pretty soon he'll be throwing food and crawling and throwing fits and turning into a stinker of a toddler and won't want to cuddle anymore. Can we just stop the clock for a bit and let me enjoy every second at this age? He is just so cute and sweet. I am positively nuts about this kid and I think you can see why.

I'm Thinning Out

In more ways than one.

They would both be good things if one weren't referring to my hair.
As if my hair isn't already thin enough, it's getting thinner every shower, brush, and blow-dry. I clean my brush out all the time and empty a gob of hair into the toilet (is it supposed to go in there? I know you're not supposed to flush gum...) It's so sad and my hair line is looking like that of a 40 yr. old balding man.
But don't worry, I'm not nutrient deficient or anything. It happened after I had Carter, too, but I was too busy to notice until it had grown out about an inch and stuck straight out from the sides of my head when I put my hair in a ponytail.
Then it kept breaking (straightening and flattening, straightening, and then flattening again) and it had JUST grown out when I had Nolan. Now it's starting all over again.

And you guessed the other way I'm thinning out...Remember that weight loss goal I had back in December? Yeah, didn't happen. But it has now and I'm almost back down to weight (I would say "size" but that doesn't really fit seeing as I'm a completely different shape) I am reading The Best Life Diet and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's not a "diet" but a "way of life" (all these books claim that) but out of the ones I've read, this has been my fav because it's very sound, all about portions and just eating healthy. And its doable. Not like no carbs, no sugars, no chocolate chip paradise pie from Chilis (well, that may be off limits). Anyway, if you're looking to be healthier and live the "Best Life" you can, here's a book for you.
In other news, Nolan is busting out his first tooth. That's right. And at only 4 months (in 2 days). I always knew he'd be really talented. Just the other day he coughed AND farted at the same time. Talent. Carter will not to be shown up by his younger brother, though, and has managed to pee his pants three times today. Incredible.

Other things thinning around our house:

All of Carter's new undies from washing them so many times.

The bathroom rug (same reason as above)

Mommy's patience for a teething baby and potty training toddler

Maybe my hair would stop thinning if I'd stop pulling it all out.

Call Me Malka

So I was insane one day and decided to audition for the play thing our Stake Relief Society is putting on for Women's Conference in April. I decided that day that I needed to be more gutsy.
What was I thinking?!
Do you know how many times I have had this thought in the past 2 weeks?
I mean, I'm totally excited about doing it but on top of working out, potty training, teaching piano lessons, (I just started last week) and being a mom, I'm not sure how I'm going to do all the rehearsing and stuff. If I didn't think it was going to be really great, I wouldn't even be attempting it. But, nevertheless, I am going to do it. Oh, and the play is "The Ten Virgins" and my character is "Malka", AND it's singing as well. Yep, a SOLO, which I haven't done since High School. I'm excited and terrified all at the same time. So feel free to attend my performance and watch me sweat and choke my way through my part, then you can get me flowers and tell me how great I did and make me feel better.

Anyway, in other news, my kids are both taking naps, so I'm going to follow suit. I am loving this beautiful, beautiful, very rare silence.

Oh the Blissfully Young and Ignorant...and skinny

Add a few bags under the eyes and on the waistlines and we look exactly the same.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
I LOVE this day of LOVE. It makes me think more about my sweetheart than any other time (other than his birthday, our anniversary, Christmas, Thanksgiving, any day the kids are driving me insane, any day the kids are being awesome and we're having a great day, when I'm looking forward to a trip we're going to take, and when I'm making dinner).I love my hubby and I'm not ashamed to say it, even on my blog on the internet. So Happy Valentine's Day, love. I love you.

My Star Wars Kid

Oh, man. Remember a few years ago that poor kid who made a home video of himself light saber fighting and it was all over the internet? I'm afraid this is what my kid is heading for. Carter loves, nay, is OBSESSED with Star Wars, already...at 2 1/2.
A few months ago we got some hand-me-down Star Wars mister potato heads (Darth Tater, a Storm Trooper, and R2D2). I didn't give him these things at Christmas cuz I thought he wouldn't care about them. In fact, I considered giving them to someone else. I'm SO glad I didn't. He found them in my room and ever since they have been his FAVORITE toys, by far (other than the always exception of a sword). He has me sing the "Darth Tater song" like 23 times a day, he calls R2D2 either "RTD2" or my personal favorite "RTDooty", and he uses his hooded towel as his Darth Tater helmet and cape. He put the "cape" on tonight and I started singing the song. He goes, "NO, Mom. No sing it yet. I get my sword." SO, once he had his sword, I sang the song as he whipped his sword around, breathed really loud, and felt totally awesome.
So I'm posting a video here that I think is hilarious. It needs a bit of explaining, though. First of all, he wore "big boy underwear" for the first time today, so he's pants-less and in underwear. Second, he found some pink stripy socks in my drawer and put them on. They went up to his thighs. And thirdly, he stopped swinging his sword when I turned on the camera and was doing a real unenthusiastic job of it until he noticed his reflection in our TV about 5 seconds into the video. So all the sudden, he gets really into the whole thing and hits the coffee table a few times. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. (one more thing...if you haven't visited the site despair.com, go take a look. It's dripping and oozing with delicious sarcasm.)

We've Been Busy...

This is my excuse for not posting in so long. Grandma and Papa got here from Houston last Wednesday and stayed through Tuesday and then it took me a full 48 hours to readjust to life with no help and pull my life back together. We had an awesome time, though. They came for Nolan's blessing on the 3rd and while here we went to Disneyland (9th time for us in 1 year), the park, and the Wild Animal Park. Here are some pics...

Nolan even had a good time

The blessing day

And Papa showed Carter hot to wear big boy underwear.

We forgot to take the camera to the Wild Animal Park so no pics from there. Grandma and Papa will be sorely missed around here!
